DESCRIPTION:Ulme35 is also cooperating with ArtSalon in 2025 and invites you to a joint concert experience in the Ulme35 salon. We are delighted to be hosting two outstanding musicians of tango and Argentinian folk music in February: Leo Gasso and José Cibils. Immerse yourself with them in the soulful\, rhythmic sounds of the tango and experience a musical break from everyday life. \nArtSalon\, based in Charlottenburg\, organises free concerts to make encounters with musicians and music in more everyday places accessible to everyone. The musical programme ranges from classical chamber music\, improvisation and jazz to sophisticated pop\, often in combination with literature and art. See what else awaits you this year. \nwww.mittagsmusik.org/artsalon \nLEONEL GASSO has travelled to countries in Asia and Europe\, such as Germany\, France\, South Korea\, Tokyo (Japan)\, Edinburgh\, Thailand\, Italy\, among others\, with various projects of tango and popular music of his country\, Argentina\, and recorded two albums\, ‘De Puerto a Puerto’ and ‘Fantasma Fiel’\, awarded by the MEC. He won the national music awards in 2015\, 2016\, 2020 and 2022. He has performed at the three most important jazz festivals in Uruguay: ‘Lapataia’ (Punta del Este) with Paquito de Rivera\, ‘Jazz a la calle’ (Mercedes) and ‘Jazztour’ (Montevideo)\, with his group ‘Leo Gasso Trio’\, he has been part of projects of jazz fusion groups; such as Luis Alderotti Cuarteto\, Federico Lazarini Grupo\, Alfonso Santini Grupo\, Pasajero Luminoso\, among others in Uruguay and Argentina. In May 2024\, Leonel was invited to accompany the well-known and popular opera singer Placido Domingo in the bullring of Colonia in Uruguay. Together with the Filarmonica de Montevideo and the outstanding lyric singers Nancy Fabiola and Virginia Tola\, they gave a magnificent zarzuela and tango concert. \nJOSÉ CIBILS graduated from the Universidad Católica Argentina as a composer and conductor. He continued his studies in conducting at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin with Prof Rolf Reuter\, performed as a pianist and composer and was a member of the group ‘Tango Filarmónico’\, which consists of members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2001 he has performed extensively with the duo ‘Piarango’ (piano and charango) together with Patrick Zeoli\, which has taken them to many European countries and twice to Japan. They have produced 2 CDs\, ‘Misa Criolla’ and ‘Plegaria’. Together with violinist Shintaro Mizuno\, Cibils have toured Japan six times\, from Hokkaido (in the north) to Okinawa (Japanese island near Thailand). On each tour\, they produced a CD with Argentinian tangos\, traditional Japanese themes and compositions by José Cibils\, such as the Sonata No. 1 for violin and piano. He combines music with the visual arts\, writing and also astrology\, which is his professional interest. \n(Source)
